Member Zone

Do you enjoy meeting and assisting theatre patrons?

  • As a Greeter, you would welcome patrons as they enter the theatre.
  • As a Host, you would meet patrons at the door and scan tickets.
  • As a Docent, you would conduct backstage tours.

Do you have a green thumb? Join the Guild Gardeners every Tuesday from April to October to maintain and enhance gardens at the Festival and Royal George Theatre theatres.

Do you love fundraising? Be part of a team focused on organizing the annual Garden Tour and other fundraising initiatives.

Do you like planning events? Help plan events to enhance members’ knowledge of the Shaw Festival and current seasons’ productions.

Do you like walking along Queen Street? Assist with the distribution of Shaw Festival brochures and playbill information to local hotels and Queen Street merchants.

Do you enjoy leading teams? Explore leadership positions on the Executive Committee and help guide the future of this dynamic organization.

Do you love theatre and want to see what's behind the scenes? Guild Members have opportunities to tour the Shaw scene shop and props warehouse, and talk to the creative people who make Shaw Festival productions so fabulous!

Whatever your talents, there is a volunteer role for you at the Shaw Guild.

Relating my experiences with patrons is extra special.  It allows me to connect people with theatre and show them areas that they wouldn’t normally see.  More important, however, is the opportunity to connect students to the theatre and open a world where they can grow throughout their life.

After moving to Niagara-on-the-Lake just before retiring, I joined the Shaw Guild and was delighted to be accepted into the docent program which I thoroughly enjoyed for 10 years. I’ve also had the pleasure to be one of the facilitators for Continue the Conversation for the last 3 years, which is a terrific way to engage with patrons from all over the globe, after the show.
